The man was Tom Froom, from whom Mount Froom derives its name, as he was the first white man to reach its summit. Tom Froom, like many of his class proved himself a capable and trustworthy servant; it was characteristic of George and Henry Cox, emulating the worthy example set by their father in dealing with his servants, reciprocated such kindly feelings.
